Treasure Island

Here's Betsy playing Black Dog the pirate in her school production of Treasure Island, taking poor Jim lad prisoner.

It's her leavers play, she will be leaving the school next Friday after seven years.

She had quite a big part and did really well. The play was full of jokes and songs and the children were all so good and clearly enjoying every moment.

Betsy told me that after the performance, they ran across the road to the Year Six base, and they all cheered and yelled and waved their cutlasses and pirate hats in the air. What a happy memory. When she told me that, I found it even more choke-making than when they sang, 'Farewell to Stanley Primary'. They have (in the main) been in school together for seven years, they know each other inside out, warts and all, and I don't suppose will feel that kind of esprit de corps again for a long time to come, if at all.

I am very proud of Betsy. She is a sweet girl who has tried her very best at school from the very beginning.
