Weta by night
Last night went for a great trip with Nature Photography Club to the Sign of the Bellbird reserve to photograph insects etc in the dark. Never done it before, but it's certainly great fun.
This is a NZ tree weta, the most common species.
. Wētā have been around long enough to see dinosaurs come and go and to evolve into more than 70 different species, all of them endemic to New Zealand.(DoC website).
Extra photos are more of the weta - look good in large.
