Flog It
I went to a Flog It valuation day today (for those not in the UK it is a BBC programme where people take their antiques to be valued and then sell them at auction.) I had taken a couple of books, a collection of postcards and a Staffordshire ornament. Unfortunately the day required a LOT of queuing - about 6 hours in total! They value everyones items and choose perhaps 20 - 25 to put through to the show. The filming of those takes about half an hour for what will be 2 minutes on the telly! Here you have David Harper doing his bit about a Lalique bowl brought in by the red haired lady.
Luckily I wasn't among the ones chosen to be filmed but my friend was. He had some posters from the 1970's relating to Radio 1(its amazing what is collectable these days). My postcards and ornament were valued at £50 each which is about what I expected but the valuer was very dismissive about my books and said £5 the pair!
The actual auction will be filmed next month so that will be another day out.
