Sophistication in Hastings

At least it's a change from the chippies. I feel the same about Hastings as I do about Newhaven. What does it take to restore a once thriving town? A lot of money, yes, but more than that, some vision, a sense of purpose.

Hastings is beset with crumbling seafront buildings, a burnt-out pier, lots of closed shops, a fairly crap town  centre. So what do they build - an Art Gallery on the seafront historic Stade area. And its not free - £8 for adults, £4 for locals and Art Fund members. There was a lot of opposition to it being built, and I'm not convinced it was a good location. It's quite a walk from the town along the seafront past all the amusement arcades and retro playgrounds, all looking a bit decaying 50s.
