Hydraulic Buffers

Well after arriving into platform 1 at Glasgow Central today before I set off for a trip to Newcastle via Edinburgh I snapped this shot of my train at a stand next to the Hydraulic Buffers at central station as you don't see many of these types of buffer stops in terminal stations now as most trains are units now not in the days of steam and diesel when these engines also had buffers on them these one's at Glasgow if struck by a train from what I have been told when the buffers are pushed back there is fluid contained within that spews out to help slow's down the compression minimising the effects of collision that takes a little pressure out of an instant stop so my shot is of the Hydraulic Buffers at Glasgow Central Station
