Helen and Gerry

She’s a veteran and a member of the crew of the ship called the Golden Rule, and he’s Vice President of the National Board of Veterans for Peace. The Golden Rule will sail up the west coast to Portland in June for “Fleet Week,” which is historically a sabre-rattling display of military ships. The Golden Rule offers a peaceful alternative to the weaponry of the big ships, while Veterans for Peace conducts educational programs on the dangers of nuclear radiation to humanity and the environment. They are activists for peace and climate justice, passionate about their work and about each other, and I’m working with the local committee to welcome and support them. We met today to work out some strategy for their visit in June.
