Orangefest!
"The Twelfth" is the annual occasion, in Belfast and surrounding towns, during which part of our community celebrate victory in a battle in 1690. "Orangefest" is the optimistic name given it by the tourist board.
For many though, it's mainly an excuse for a party and a couple of days off work (the 12th and 13th of July are official Bank Holidays - a throwback from when Northern Ireland had it's own government - 1922 to 1972)
This chap and the girls in my other shot were enjoying the fun atmosphere on the Dublin Road while waiting for the bands and Orange Lodges returning from "The Field". Drummer Boy was pretending to play the child's drum and was kindly hamming it up for my camera.
"Flegs" is how the broader Belfast speakers say flags!
