Powerless

We just had a power cut. No real drama except whilst scrambling through the lounge after the obligatory check out of the window to see if it affected the whole street, I noticed that the only thing at all visible was the alarm sensor.

This can be an ominous sight at the best of times but in the pitch black of a power cut, this glowing red eye makes my mind jump to scenarios involving some for of technology trying to take over mankind. Anyone who knows who GLaDOS is will understand my fear.

Or maybe I'm way too much into science fiction. (Fiction? That's just what the robots want us to believe.)
