Kodak moment?
Some of you may remember the last time I helped with mini-shelter building at Wakehurst. It was one of the activities today, although there were a few jokers in my group and they decided Ken could see better if he was a bit higher up! Funny enough, I was supposed to help my son's Beavers group do shelter-building yesterday evening but rain stopped play. No such problems today - we had glorious weather for the whole day, even though it's tipping down now.
I'd been feeling pretty low as I'm desperately trying to find a (voluntary but paid is better) classroom assistant position for September, otherwise I can kiss goodbye to any chance of getting on a teacher-training course. I phone up, they say email. So I email and rarely even get an acknowledgement. When they do reply, it's a 'No', usually citing 'lack of funding'. No idea how that works. The economy must really be in a bad state if schools can't afford to have someone work for free! Anyway, to cut a short story long, got home today and there was the most wonderful message from just the local school I'd been hoping to get in to. Called them back and had a terrific conversation with the head of the geography department and looks like I'm in! Yay! Such a relief.
And finally... today's title is in honour of George Eastman of the Eastman Kodak Company, who was born on this day in 1854.
