My neighbour came round with this egg for me today.  It's a pullet egg, that is, from one of last year's chicks, and is smaller than an 'adult' hen's egg.  I realise that from the picture this could be an ostrich egg, as you can't tell how big the saucer is...it's a tiny egg-cup saucer!

We are really pleased to see that they are laying in the hen house, rather than hidden round the garden, so hopefully we will be able to stop buying eggs now until the autumn.

Spring must definitely be on the way :)
