Small One

Late this afternoon I was surprised to see one of the guinea fowl walking across the lawn with a very young keet struggling along behind her. There was no sign of any other babies. Guinea fowl are notoriously careless mothers and, true to form, this one didn't seem to notice that her offspring was exhausted and cold. She wasn't bothered when I picked it up and it's now asleep in a basket under the heat lamp.
