world in a grain of sand

Rant alert: I had a meeting in Aylesbury this morning about "low cost home ownership" which is a bit of an oxymoron in these parts. I can't see how we can go on tinkering about the edges of a broken housing market when no one is prepared to address the problem that houses are too expensive, and while the people at meetings like this continue to talk about homes as an investment, rather than a place to live. All my personal opinion, naturally and not related to that of my employers!
I stopped off in Aynho on the way back. It's another apricot village, and I saw some green fruits on several cottage walls. Aynho Park is the "big house" and it has this sculpture in it's front garden. I don't know anything about the reason for its being there - the Aynho Park website refers to the owner being a "veteran of the british music industry" and believing in the "eccentricity of the country house".
