Mono Monday ... Ancestors ...

Thank you MrsLinda for being so kind hosting the challenge and theme for mono Monday!

For the theme "Ancestors" I chose this medal of my great-grandfather Pieter J. Janssen on the occasion of his 25 years of service at the Royal Company De Schelde (shipbuilding) in the year 1902.

In the outer ring at the front at the top "Maatschappij Van Nijverheid Gevestigd In 1777" which means "Industrial Company Established in 1777".

At the bottom the name of my great-grandfather and the years of service between 1876-1902. In the additional photos section you will find a picture of the back of the medal. Here in the outer ring the words "Vermeerdering Van Volkswelvaart Het Doel Der Maatschappij"  (Propagation of People's Welfare Target Of The Company) and in the middle "Royal Company 'De Schelde' and 25 Years 'Service.

My maternal grandfather all his life engaged in shipbuilding on the De Schelde Shipyard. My father and brother both started their working career at ... The Royal Shipyard De Schelde.

It is not so surprising that something of ships and ports is in my genes. It may also explain the number of blips in my journal that has a relationship with ships and ports ... ;-))

Thank you for visiting my journal, your comments and stars for yesterday's derelict object. Very much appreciated!
