All sorts of metaphors in this deceptive muddy puddle, given the prospect of the English severing ties with Europe (and thereby also Scotland and Wales). Reminds me of that old headline 'Fog in Channel. Continent cut off'. What a bunch of arrogant idiots we are. Amputating a foot for its corns without realising we are the foot. Or, rather, the corn.
