Pre-Mono Monday - Ancestors

The Ancient Romans used to celebrate Feralia on February 21st, thus ending Parentalia, a nine-day long festival honoring their dead ancestors. Let's honour our ANCESTORS tomorrow during our Mono Monday challenge. If you wish to participate please tag your photos with MM109.

The mono macro blip I'm sharing with you today is a close up of a kitchen knife which belonged to my grandfather who died many years ago. There are several memories I have of him: he liked observing the town life from the window being scolded by my granny for watching other women all the time :-) He never left his flat without a bike, later he just walked by it using it as a support and he used to mark all his s movable possessions (knives, pencils, etc.) with three cuts. It could have been something he brought from his professional service in army. He's still with us carved into this knife.
