Stonechat
After a gruelling but rewarding day in the garden chainsawing, splitting, barrowing and stacking a vast amount of horse-chestnut branches very kindly given to us by friends who had the tree drop in the gales last week, I dragged Hubs off to try and find the penduline tits that have been setting the twitchers on fire round here. Probably far too late in the day, as the sun by the time we got there had dropped and the light was getting far too dim.
There was a stonechat some distance off and a cygnet, a few ducks and a couple of moorhen but that was it. This is a lone male nicely plump little stonechat perched on top of a bullrush - never to be spotted again as it dived into the reeds.
