New life - or lunch ?

Yesterday we saw a heron up at the pond and today discovered why - the toads have started to lay their spawn.

Cathleen noticed this beautiful little droplet hanging on a dried piece of last year's foliage and in close up you can see the dark centre of new life.  

However it is so exposed that I suspect it will be the heron's next meal.
