Festival Of Colour
Colour paints the paths as I wander through this lifetime.
Sunday was St Kilda festival, a Melbourne staple that celebrates diversity in every way.
The air is filled with mismatched scents as you wander down a street confused about what it has on offer. You drift passed a well worn beach which plays second to a myriad of stages demanding your attention. Music beckons from all directions & the tastes of sweet & sour hit your tounge as you breath in your surrounds. It further awakens your scences.
There are dancers & drag queens & athletes & tatoos. The religous walk together with the 'would be' hedonistic - there is no malice or judgment but a genuine curiousity. There are 'well planned outings' & the random 'lets do that', the polished beautiful, the comfortable & the 'somewhere in betweens'. There are the 'don't wander off' families searching out entertainment & the 'footloose & fancy free' providing it. There are the conservative observers & the 'left of field' who are so far left that they are standing on your right hand side. The lovers, the 'best friends for ever' & the 'only just met' - they are all there.
And then there is the colour, it forms the landscape & the players that dance across it.
Bold swaths of blue, ribbons of red, splashes of green & decadent gold tones fill the air. There is colour, colour everywhere in all its vibrations - there is colour.
Amidst it all, I notice these woven bands of thread dotted with plain painted beads of no significance. They are much quieter & more subtle than my surrounds & I think they are so very beautiful. I get lost in them....
