Poaka
Up at the beach today. Joined in the afternoon by daughters and grandsons. While waiting for C and the boys, I went for a walk beside the incoming tide at Southend, Snells Beach. There I saw three Pied Stilts (Poaka) searching for food. They didn't seem to be very successful.
The boys wanted a swim after they arrived. Not surprising after a hot drive in the car. While I was watching them swim, I saw an Australasian Gannet circling above us, soaring on the thermals. Well away from us, it dived; as it surfaced quite quickly, I suspect that it missed its target.
Enjoyed a lovely meal prepared and cooked by C and Young L. Now a quiet time awaits us all.
