The Golden Mile

Scarborough's seafront was certainly so described
in the sixties and seventies but revenues have
gradually declined since then as the one or two
week staying visitors of those times have passed
on or moved to sunnier climes. Day trippers and
short breaks do not keep the cash tills ringing
from mid- morning to late evening. But the lights
are persistent in their beckoning to the few
passers by and a cheery sight on a winter night.
