Rosamond and Rudy

Dear Diary,

My friends are amused by the names I give all my little visitors and ask how I can possibly tell them apart but when you observe them day in and day out you come to know their little idiosyncrasies.  Since it is "Squirrel Friday" I thought I would introduce you to Rosamond another little red squirrel.

You can see Rosamond's sweet round face.  She has a petite nose as well.  In the extra photograph of Rudy you can see how really different they look.  Besides being a brighter red, Rudy's nose is longer and his face not so round.  He is bigger too which one would expect for a male squirrel.

Seeing little creatures as individual personalities, which they definitely are, is something I've done all my life.  They are dear friends who I check on every day.  One day, I know, they won't show up on the back porch and I will be sad but new Rudy's and Rosamond's will appear and I will have to learn their unique characteristics; how thick their tails are, how vocal they are, the shape of ear and nose. 

Until then, here are Rosamond and Rudy, dear sweet little souls that give Emerson and I countless hours of enjoyment bless them.
