Sad!

Descaling the coffee machine just now and thinking how good it would be if maintaining our human physical systems were so straightforward

It's just over a week since I was telling my friend, K, that heart bypass surgery is so routine these days - hundreds every day, etc.   I now know that the mortality rate is 3% which seems very reasonable.

K was an apprentice to my uncle who died last January.   K - a most generous, kind and honest man - has this last year been like a son to my aunt.   Repairing, helping, crisis-managing....he and his wife D came round every Wednesday evening to sit for a couple of hours with my aunt.  He was her mainstay.

Confident, and looking forward to the life-enhancing outcomes of his cardiac surgery, he walked in to hospital last week - and shockingly has not made it.     Aged 57.    Eternal rest be yours K.   You will be dreadfully missed.
