Lloyd Center

I was down near the Oregon Convention center this afternoon for an appointment. Walked through the Lloyd Center and noticed nearly all the office windows had their shades pulled across. Glaring but beautiful sunshine today.

These shades reminded me of a funny moment while working in SF. The office I was working in at that time was on the 30th floor of the One Sansome St building and I had a friend who had just begun a new job at offices in the Transamerica Pyramid. Both buildings have a clear line of sight of each other, depending which side you're on, of course. My friend was feeling very much the new girl and she called my office phone (this is before cell phones were the norm, ancient times!) and said she was moving the blinds in her office and could I see them? I could! So we had a silly, morse code-like, communication with the window shades in our offices across SF for a couple of minutes and she felt much better.

I am sure we're not the only people to have done this at some point!
