Ruby Bay in a northerly blow
It's been quite a day. I set off after lunch to pick up blipmate from Nelson airport. It was blowing with a little rain when I left Motueka but pouring by the time I got to Ruby Bay so I put down the window, got a photo looking towards Mapua and another back across Tasman Bay. Nelson wasn't visible. The northerly and an incoming tide made for some nice little running waves.
Delivered some books and thought I would just sit at the airport for half an hour. Two hours later blipmate finally arrived having spent most of that time just getting from Wellington. It was Nelson conditions that were jamming up flights from other places and upsetting hundreds trying to get to the Edinburgh Tattoo. The airport was full. I met several people I knew which helped pass the time.
Still torrential rain as we drove home so slow going and then a full stop on the Appleby Highway. We rang home and Trev had heard there were trees down so waited again. He ordered fish and chips and the shop was so busy and full of young tourists all drying out it was another 20 minutes before getting in the door to be greeted by the news we had no water.
No idea why but with rain caught in buckets to flush the loo and a pot out in the rain for a cuppa tomorrow morning we will survive.
We have our own water bore and a pump. It will be a pump problem of some sort.
We needed the rain but not the wind.
