A view from Jeanneb

Worth a walk!

Fabulous walk this morning but oh so cold!

We set off across Catstones Moor from the Guide Inn walking down Back Lane and across the fields to the hamlet of Hainworth.

The road through here peters out into a path high above the Worth Valley with, as you can see, great views. Unfortunately you can also see that it was firmly in the shade this morning and therefore incredibly cold. A strong wind made it pretty chilly still in the sun but it was so much more pleasant than out of it, so coming out of the shade at Cross Roads and climbing back up into the sun through Barcroft was a great relief.
I think this qualifies for the same Dickens quote as yesterday:
"Spring is like Summer in the sun and Winter in the shade"(DGE 3 ) but as last night was our coldest this winter it never really felt like summer today but the sun and blue skies were still a joy.

A very hard frost made the ground hard and so for the first time in months I walked in proper boots instead of wellies! A very pleasant change.

In the view you can see the Worth Valley railway snaking along on the lower right hand side, past Damems caravan site to Mill Hey and Oakworth Station. On the hill to the left is Haworth where the railway also makes a stop before heading up the valley to Oxenhope. The River Worth is a tributary to the River Aire joining it in Riddlesden, Keighley.

Great start to the day.

( Just noticed I took a shot from the same walk on this day last year! )
