Gums in the park

Hans Heysen was a famous South Australian artist born in Germany in the late 19th Century. (Hans HEYSEN Germany 1877 – Australia 1968.  Australia from 1884; Europe, England 1899-1903.) 

He was famous for capturing gum trees and the subtleties of colour and light typical of mornings in the Adelaide Hills. The Belair Park is on the western edge of these hills.

Here is my version of Gums in the Park, captured in his unique style of painting. As an interesting aside, when my father was a boy, he lived less than a mile from the home of Hans Heysen. On his walk to school, dad would often see Hans sitting on the side of the road at his easel, painting gums. The Hans Heysen house, garden and studio is now a quite famous museum between Hahndorf and Verdun. The studio is exactly as Hans left it, and maybe I will do a photo there one day for Blip.
