The Kelpies
Monday 15th Feb 2016 (1269)
Having stayed in Carlisle last night we were able to make the most of a gloriously sunny day today. We traveled over to see the Falkirk Wheel and enjoyed walking through the snow and seeing the snow on the hills. Unfortunately the wheel wasn't working as the canal was covered in ice.
We then had a wander around Falkirk, including the Falkirk steeple and Trinity church, before moving on to the Kelpies to meet up with ANewDay and hubby. It was lovely to see them again. We joined the tour and had a very entertaining guide. The tour includes going inside "Duke". We were very lucky to also be able to photograph them at sunset. I had visited the Kelpies in 2014 but Mum hadn't seen them before.
We all enjoyed a lovely meal in an Italian restaurant nearby, before returning to the Kelpies to see them lit up at night, the main reason for our journey north,. We were so lucky with the weather, even though it was rather cold!
After saying goodbye we returned West to our hotel in Strathaven for the next three nights.
It was such a varied day I have had to include three extra photos.
