Spode at Skaill House
A visit to Skara Brae in mainland Orkney includes a visit to the house of the Laird who found the first signs of the Neolithic village after a storm ripped grass away from nearby sand-dunes in the 1850s.
Set out as the house was in the 1950s, this was a fascinating dinner service with different countryside scenes on different items. I loved the way the deep blue glasses caught the light, and all were reflected in the highly polished table.
