Fabulous Fungus: Finale

BIGGER!

I took another visit today to the beautiful orange fungus which I blipped last Wednesday and the Wednesday before that. I wanted a shot from underneath to complete the set. I'm glad I did! The poor thing's now looking very worse for wear, the top surface becoming brown, and starting to shrivel - a result I imagine of the heavy rains and strong winds of the last week. Fortunately the underside still looks OK, surely from being more sheltered. I'd noticed last week that underneath it's far more yellow than orange - due no doubt to it being shaded and the orange pigmentation being supressed.
Next week's the last week of the school summer term, but I bet come September and the onset of autumn, Dwyer will be keeping his eyes peeled looking for more fungi for me!

In the grounds of the school earlier my eye was taken by this web, with raindrops and a small pool of water trapped on it, reflecting the sun.
