We saw the movie Where to Invade Next this afternoon...the new Michael Moore film and , perhaps his best ever. Description here
I was so moved by one statement made by an Icelandtic woman when asked by Moore what she would say to people here in the U.S.A.
She wondered how we could go to bed at night in a society that neglected as a whole people without health care, without good long paid vacations, those with burdensome debt from a costly higher education system, how we could not be a society that acted more for the "we" than the "me". I wonder this too and weep for my nation. I think Moore did an excellent job of showing that we are NOT number 1 in the world when it comes to health care, educating our children, providing day care and maternity and family leaves, feeding our school children....We need to do much much better in providing for the Whole of society instead of the priviledged few. We could do so much better...His movie should be seen by high school kids...it's very educational and everyone might well benefit for it's informative value alone.
