Gemma Bovery

In my life I have never won anything. Not even a £10 premium bond draw, or a lottery ticket - could be that I don't participate in lotteries. However, I received an email this week informing me that I had won a DVD and signed poster of the film Gemma Bovery. I read an online journal called France in London and perused the Anglo French films currently being released on DVD. Tick the box, it said, if you would like to be put in the draw to win one of five copies plus poster.

Today, they arrived in the post. The poster, duly signed by the leading actors, is enormous and very colourful. The film is based very loosely, I believe, on Flaubert's Madame Bovary. I am hoping to be able to view it later. I am quite excited at this unexpected gift.

I have been scanning the France in London film pages to see what else I could win. Who knows what lies in store for me.
