Fungus on vine maple leaf
I was at North Barriere Lake in British Columbia, Canada for a few days. I live in a very arid area but the lake is in an area that gets considerable rain and snow. A wide variety of trees grow there. Because of the moisture there is also a huge population of mosquitoes and they all seem to think I am quite tasty.
Since there are so many species of plants there is fierce competition for space to grow. There are many varieties of mosses, lichens and fungi. This fungi makes a brilliant appearance in contrast to the green of the maple leaf.
