Outpost

This is the corner of a site that there is some talk of redeveloping for housing. Like many cities things are moving eastward in Bristol. The incursion of desirable pied a terre and buytolets into faceless former industrial hinterlands.

These outlands have little of the heritage or glamour of the typically recalled places of industry. No mills or factories or great Victorian palaces of production. Largely anonymous roads, scrubby lots, oily channels, barbed wire topping out rusted corrugated canyons festooned with the tattered tendrils of blue and white plastic bags. Places that are hot and flat in the sun and cold and hard in the wind.

Places that are full of opportunity for blipping and that suggest an alternative vision of the future of our city. Provisional, makeshift, make-do.

It reminds me of Robinson in Space. Worth a look if you can spare the time.
