Ashes to Go

Today being Ash Wednesday, the vicar and I, with the help of some parishioners, took to the street outside the local railway station to offer ashes to go to the commuters.  We also offered a prayer and a pamphlet about Lent to take away.The reaction?

Bemused, intrigued, not interested, pleased, grateful.

We were surprised at the number of younger people in their 20's who stopped for ashes and a blessing.  In all we ashed about 25 people which was actually more than I had anticipated.
