Aliens

This is the 70mm print of Aliens, which we're screening at Filmhouse on Sunday (along with Alien, also from 70mm). Not many cinemas can screen 70mm film, and not many films are available on that format, but we like to show them when we can. This is the difference in size between a frame of 35mm and a frame of 70mm - the picture quality is extraordinary (especially when the film was shot on 70mm too, rather than being shot on 35mm and then blown up). Paul Thomas Anderson, one of the few directors still resisting digital, just shot his new film on this format, so we're crossing our fingers the studio will let him make at least one 70mm print too...

What a nerdy blip! ;-)
