St Ninian's Isle

Shetland Day 1
The journey from Aberdeen was calm and we arrived about 7am, after disembarking the first call was the supermarket before a wander along the harbour.
Getting out of Lerwick was a bit of a challenge and led us to one of the interesting parts and then we headed south. The plan was to get the boat to Mousa and go on the walk with the ranger but that wasn't until the afternoon so we visited St Ninian's Isle with its tombolo beach. A breezy walk around the island gave us a taste of what was to come but were disappointed on returning to the boat point that it had been cancelled due to a bad weather forecast.
We still managed to see a broch and a deserted village on a walk along the coast and spent the rest of the day visiting various places of interest in South Mainland. It started raining just as we were finishing tea but the campsite has an indoor place to sit so we were able to chat to the others around.
