Gulp!

This pause in a two to three minutes of effort to ingest a meal, would seem to be logically followed by a question; "Now What?". Shortly after this photo, it looked as if the fish was about to go down the throat. Only it didn't. The shag jumped back into the water, and when it resurfaced, there was no fish to be seen. Whether lost, or (more likely) successfully swallowed, I was not able to see.

Then what, was drying of the wings. While this Kawau paka (Little Pied Shag) was drying in the wind a Kawau tui (Little Black Shag) jumped up beside it on the rowing club pontoon. For some minutes both dried their wings, while I got some good photos of the classic pose. I have added one of each to the extras for today.

A quiet morning (due to a cancellation) meant that I had time to take a walk at lunch time, and I walked over to Lake Pupuke, Around the end of the Rowing Club building and saw the Kawau paka struggling with its catch. Stopped walking for a while.

Book club tonight, so early posting of blip.
