Into the distance

So nice to have some sun today. Everywhere very wet from yesterday. I took this on the morning dog walk while we were waiting for the vet.  A stressful morning as Tango my husbands horse took a turn of spasmodic colic, husband had to stay with her to make sure she didn't role and twist her gut. We have had these horses for at least 6 years and never had a problem with them so to see her sick was a bit of a shock. Especially as nothing had changed in our routine. She had a thorough check out by the vet and had actually perked up by the time the vet got to us (2 hours after the call, not her fault just country living). No medication needed as all seemed to be working ok in her gut. We are thinking she ate her morning hay yesterday and then because of the dismal weather stood around in the shed most of the day/night and didn't drink much/any water so got a bit compacted. All our previous years we have fed our haylage to the horses which of course has more moisture content so may be why we haven't seen this problem before. Anyway she seems back to her self now and is on moisture rich diet for couple of days then should be back to normal.

This meant that we were delayed by 5 hours for the feeding at the farm where we manage the livestock so we both went this afternoon and took  wee walk onto the hill to look for cattle and check on their mineral blocks. These cattle will need to come in next week for blood testing so we wanted to see if any were near by. All in all an exhausting day. But with the sunshine it was not as bad.
