Mono Monday Challenge: Pure Transition

I will not pretend it was easy to think of a subject for this challenge and ultimately, as will be seen, I didn't.

This is a view from my bathroom window with, although it is not clear from this, a view to the horizon about five miles away. We bought this house 22 years ago and what attracted us to it was the location. We have fields in front and to the side of us, the field to the side having horses grazing. At the back there is a view of the 12th Century village church, and a little way away is our neighbour's house; visible, but certainly not on top of us. Our house is now 114 years old and turned out to be a bit of a money pit; over the years we have spent a fortune on it and every time we did something it unearthed another problem which, of course, cost more money. There are still things to be done; we have some damp areas and the chimney needs work but other than that, we have got the house exactly as we like it and we still love the position and open views.

Today, we discovered that the farmer who owns the fields opposite and to the side of us has put them on the market for residential development. I do not know how many houses there would be but even one would be more than we want; but looking at the site plans several hundred are more likely. It is early days yet; the plan may not go ahead but we are in an area where there is pressure to build houses. If it does go ahead, there will be a Pure Transition from farmland to housing. This view will go, and we will be surrounded by a modern housing estate.

I say 'we will be surrounded', but WE won't. We will sell up and go somewhere else. We've always fancied living near the coast and already have 'Rightmove' alerts set up for a few different areas. But what a shame that we have to consider it.
