Day 38 - Jiggs Dinner
It may look like a mess on a plate to the unknown eye, but this is one of our most traditional meals in Newfoundland. It's called 'Jiggs Dinner' but oddly has nothing to do with fish or jigging?! It's boiled root vegetables: carrot, potato, turnip, cabbage with cured salt beef and pease pudding. Also served with roasted turkey (in this case) but could also be served with roasted beef. The whole thing is topped off with gravy. Yummy! I'm very grateful to my sister for preparing this meal as a welcome home treat for us
