Bude

Well after yesterdays torrential rain we were pleasantly surprised when we woke up this morning and the sun was shining.  Minehead is at the start of the South West Coast Path so before breakfast we walked a little way along it until it started to get muddy and then we turned around and walked back.

After breakfast we headed home and Ann said, ‘Molly, we’ll drive home on the A39 and stop off at Bude so that we can go on a big long walk.’

Best laid plans and all that…………………

…………When we got to Bude there were big black clouds in the sky so Ann said, ‘Molly, I’m going to cancel big long walk because if we get as wet as we did yesterday and then have to sit in the car for another two hours it will not be very pleasant.  You can have a play on the beach and then we’ll do a little circular walk along the canal and back along the river and if it starts to chuck it down we can just make a run for the car.’

So that is what we did.

It was extremely windy down on the beach.  Just look at how my ears have been blown up in this Blip.  I thought about going for a swim in the outdoor pool but it was a tad chilly so I just did lots of running about instead.

And then we walked along the canal and I didn’t even attempt to jump in and go for a swim.  Nor did I annoy any of the fishermen who were sat quietly fishing.  I didn’t even go and pester the ones who were eating sandwiches.  I just trotted along the tow path in good dog mode.

We walked for just over an hour (without getting wet) and do you know what happened when we got back to the car?........................  I’d just jumped into the boot and Ann was taking off her wellies when the heavens opened and it absolutely chucked it down.  So much so, that in the time it took Ann to change her shoes, she was soaked but nowhere near as badly as yesterday?!!

And then it took us almost 2 hours to drive home in torrential rain.  And it’s still raining.  And Ann said that she might take me out for an extra walk later.  ……………But Ann doesn’t want to go out again in the rain and neither do I.  Going away for a few days is actually very stressful for a gorgeous little collie.  I’ve had a lovely time, but I’ve walked further than I normally do and not had as much sleep time as I normally do, so obviously I’m going to be very tired.

I’m curled up on the sofa asleep now and when I wake up I’m going to have my dinner, then it’s an evening in front of the TV watching ‘Call the midwife’ & ‘Vera’.
