Tablet Weaving.
The weather has been very kind to us today with very little rain this morning although things got back to normal this afternoon.
Our first port of call was Chedworth Roman Villa which is renowned for its mosaic floors. It is owned by the National Trust which has recently spent over £3m erecting a new cover-building over the west wing where the majority of the mosaic floors are located.
However, what caught V's attention was Sue, pictured here, who is tablet weaving, an occupation which apparently dates back to the bronze age but I expect the Romans would have taken the credit for improving the technique.
Sue spent about half an hour answering V's questions and showing her other weaving methods including drop spinning. She has her own website at www.blotz.co.uk
We spent the afternoon at another National Trust site, Lodge Park which was not far away. The rain was not far away either.
