Cauld : Robert Burns Birthplace Museum
I really like the mix of materials and blend of literature and sculpture in this new dry stone wall entrance way to the museum. The words " cranreuch cauld" feature, meaning "hoar-frost cold" from the poem "To a Mouse".
We visited all the main sites : the Cottage, the Auld Kirk, Brig O'Doon and the viewpoint from the Memorial in the garden. Amused to see Olympic Bunting blending with historic venues.
Then to Culzean, with a guided tour around the Castle, a walk in the gardens, to the Camelia House, Walled Garden, Swan Pond and Pagoda. The palm trees do give a Mediterranean feel, however the temperature and sky didn't.
We kept up with the Federer v Murray score via our mobile phones, thanks to the BBC, Dad, and LadyFindhorn.
