Another new boy
Off to the match this afternoon. Newcastle United were playing West Bromwich Albion. First home game for Newcastle's new signing Andros Townsend. Recently bought from Spurs for £12 million pounds. He had a good game. The whole team played well - better than they have done recently. The final score was Newcastle 1 WBA 0. Newcastle should have scored more - they had plenty of chances. The weather was damp - very damp - but the crowd were in good spirits. A much needed 3 points put a smile on everyone's face.
There was a family sitting next to me at the match - Mam, Dad, a little boy and an older girl. As soon as the match got under way and the noise level rose the little boy ran out of his seat and out of sight. The Dad followed. They were gone ages so I asked the Mam if everything was OK. She said the little lad had sensitive ears and the noise was too much for him. The lad and his Dad came back after a while but only for a minute and then they were off again. After half time they came back ---- and stayed till the end. Apparently some St Johns Ambulance men had seen the little lad and wondered what was wrong. They had put cotton wool in his ears, put tape across his ears and wrapped his Dad's scarf around his head. Then with his hood up the sound of the crowd was muffled enough for him to bear it and he was able to enjoy the rest of the game. Well done those St John Ambulance men.
After the match I did a bit of food shopping then home for my tea ( sausages ) and an evening of TV viewing.
