Scrabble!

I was working from home today as I had a meeting in Ingleton, this afternoon. However, that was pushed back to tomorrow, so in the end I had the whole day sat at the dining table, waving to passing neighbours, alternating phone calls, doing bits of emailing, and working on a document I'm writing at the moment. I guess I could have taken a break now and then to do some unpacking but there's so much to do that it was easy to talk myself out of it.

Late in the afternoon, I packed five bin liners full of packing paper into the car and set off down to Carnforth tip to recycle it: moving house is not a green experience! But just as I was about to leave, I had to take a call and consequently I arrived at the tip once the gates were shut. Since picking Dan and Abi up was next on my agenda, I had to cram the bin bags together to make some space!

Later on, once we'd eaten, we decided to play Scrabble. Much as I love cards, I think this is my favourite game. Recently I've succumbed to the new rules about allowing proper names and, tonight, in a further drop in standards, the Scrabble dictionary was allowed for people to look up words (as opposed to only for challenges). I think it does make the game a bit fairer, though, when playing with a range of ages. As ever, my favourite part of the whole game was the general chit chat; I find out far more about Dan and Abi's days this way than asking them outright.
