The Lift

De Hef / the Lift is a disused railway bridge across the Koningshaven / King Harbour in Rotterdam, which separates the North Island from the Feijenoord district. This bridge formed part of the railroad Breda - Rotterdam but is now disused as the railtrack goes underwater.

The remarkable bridge with its mid-part the lift and those two bridge sections on the banks, what stems from 1878, is luckily safe from demolition as it's classified as a monument.

Got to Rotterdam as my TomTom stopted working, so I had to buy a new navigator. Silly there's no copy of my old device available anymore! Need to find out all how this one works
