Richness

It's been a very full day, beginning with an eye exam for me this morning, followed by our Gentle Yoga II class this afternoon, and then an early and delicious light evening meal at The Real McCoy, one of our favorite restaurants here.

A short two blocks away was our next stop --  the Whatcom Museum's members-only preview reception for the opening of its latest exhibit, "Returning Home: Six Decades of Art by Ira Yeager." Born in Bellingham in 1938, Yeager has lived in Florence, Corfu, Tangiers, Santa Fe , New York City, San Francisco, and Calistoga. This is one of my favorites -- Falconer, 1810, painted in 2010 in mixed media on mirrored glass. The exhibit has 50 of Yeager's works in a diverse array of styles, and I look forward to returning when the gallery is not so crowded to peruse them more carefully. 

In the hallway outside the exhibit, we enjoyed the Lost Highway Band's renditions of such country classics as "I Walk the Line" and "The Yellow Rose of Texas," and were surprised to learn from the Whatcom County Executive, Jack Louws, who was standing next to us, that one of the lead singers and musicians was Ira Uhrig, who is a Superior Court judge for our county! I can just imagine what a total change of mood and scene playing in this band must be for him, as is apparent in the extra photo. (He's on the far left.)

A final stop at Make.Shift gallery to see one of my favorite vendors from the farmers' market in her studio wrapped up a very active Friday for us!
