Bridge #1

I decided to chose a theme for this weekend and as you can see from the title it's 'Bridges'

Kicking off with the railway hoist bridge at Dordrecht. It's built in 1990 to replace the previous hoistbridge called the butterfly, which had become a huge obstacle for the heavy traffic on the river.

This four pilar hoist bridge is 65 meters high and allows pretty big ships a passage, that is... till today.

Ironically it broke down earlier on and I just read on a news site that it certainly won't open for the coming weeks, forcing taler ships than 11 meter to make a big detour via Rotterdam.

The pool ladder in the foreground was my initial target, but due to the breakdown the focus shifts ;-)
