Deer, deer ...
I thought Wednesday morning's walk was the muddiest yet but today came pretty close especially as I slipped and fell in it! Still it's just a bit of mud and it washes off.
Despite that it was a great walk, almost light for the off at 7.30am and is the walk we know as the deer walk as we almost always see them. One of our number took a different route to avoid the worst of the mud and spotted them first but that just redirected them towards us. As usual it was a fleeting glimpse as they scurried past or a half dozen or so well hidden in the woods out of reach. It doesn't really matter as we just enjoy seeing them.
Nearly back at Altar Lane and the return into the St Ives Estate woods we saw a small group of 3 or 4 just off the path. They seemed very unconcerned despite the two dogs that were accompanying us. It gave me plenty of time to get a reasonable close up.
I liked this one best with one peeping from behind the tree and another of one laid back enough to remain sitting and watching us.
Lovely end to a good walk, no sun but no rain either and quite warm. All the muddy clothes are now washed and drying ready for next time!
Have a good weekend everybody.
