I've never really been a yes person.

That's a bit of an understatement.

I'm a gobshite.

I'm a great believer in speaking the truth. I can't help it really, it just comes out.

I'm never going to agree with something that's wrong and actually I make no apology for that. I may indeed be a total gobshite but I'd rather be that than someone who is afraid to speak out. I'll never bow to peer pressure and I'm happy to have the courage of my convictions along with a healthy dose of cynicism.

However, I'm gradually learning to keep my gob shut when it's really not that important to say it out loud. It makes me grumpy though. I don't like keeping my mouth shut.

It's just as well I have a sounding board. I'm grateful for that.

Two people today said to me that they'd rather be educated in life than educated academically. A chapter in common sense should be included in every degree course. Can't disagree.

I'm happy that I'm me.
